How Video Games Can Shape Your Brain

Video games makeup to a big industry of about $67 billion dollars and according to 2013 statistics. Many big players are putting their stake in the gaming industry including Microsoft. Video Games are often treated as a waste of time which builds violence in you and makes you anti-social. But, what we fail to consider is the long-term benefits of video games; they help us grow smarter.

Recent studies have concluded that video games change the brain in a positive way and build strategic thinking, logic, decision making and many more traits in the player and make them faster with all these actions. Different games have a different impact on the player. Let’s look at them separately.

Puzzles increase the brain function and IQ

Puzzles and games like Angry Birds and Mario Bros boosts the mind with its jumping activities and obstacles placed around the match. These activities improve the reaction time as you have to be quick to pass the level and stay away from barriers and helps you to consider minute details in any situation increase the decision-making skills on an individual. The puzzles also enhance the IQ of the player.

Action Games increases the decision-making power

Action games are quick, and you have to be aware of everything going all around you especially on your back. You have to analyze the movement and be keen to detail of the computer playing with you. This skill from action games helps you make instant decisions on where to move and who to kill. The minute details of what the other person is doing increase your ability to read people in real life and keep a track of what’s going on in your surroundings.

Driving games make you aware of the signs and increase your real life driving
Driving games helps you to drive around with cars and many obstacles while also saving yourself from the accidents. The road signs in the match and obligation with the indications in the game can help you to remember them when you’re driving in real life. These games also increase your multitasking abilities as you’re focusing on different cars coming your way along with road signs to stop you. The game will increase your attention towards the road and will be quite beneficial in real life.

Moreover, these video games help us to learn from the past mistakes and to think and make decisions on the go. All these techniques which MBA’s learn in the university are given practical experience in the games. Hands-on experience always helps one more rather than reading books and therefore, individuals who play games can find out more from the games and are sharp, strategic and real decision makers when they enter the corporate world. So do we say games can help you more than doing an MBA? Still to find out!

Why so Serious? RaidFinder Pro is for You!

Why so Serious?
I started playing online games many years sgo on The Realm and I still have fond memories of sneaking in to other people’s houses and stealing from their chest while they had it open then suddenly getting kicked out. It was a drinking game that I did not take seriously.

From there my friends and I moved onto EverQuest. That is when my experience changed. There were 40 of us killing a dragon in an ice cave. I had not slept in over 40hrs working on leveling up my character to maintain my standing with this guild. We would try to organize to be first in force when a world boss spawned only to be grieved by another guild training enemies into our raiding party to cause us to wipe.

Then along came World of Warcraft. This game offered instanced raids and much better graphics and rich content. It was like sitting in a new car on the show room floor. I played WOW until the end of the Mist of Pandaria. Wow had lost its luster for me two expansions ago. I had to force myself to log in and play so I would not lose my raiding spot. I really wanted to simply play casually and use the in game group finding tool and raid finder. But, even then the dungeons were bland and the raids were just okay.
Along the way my kids grew up. Raised on the Nintendo and then moving to Call of Duty and Destiny. Now as teenagers they play with school friends in League of Legends, Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV.
Being a MMORPG dad, I may have nurtured the MMO games and rich history of them to my boy’s.

Having used the website The100.io for Destiny the boys were accustomed to making an event and having people sign up for it. They were dismayed with the MMO’s in game party finding tools. There is no way to schedule an event for a future date. Sure you could get a group ‘now’ (and now being sometime within an hour or two) but there was no way to schedule an event for their prime game playing times. It’s not amusing to finally get a group with only 30min left to play.
This is how Raid Finder Pro came into existence. The boys saved up money and hired a website programmer to create Raid Finder Pro from the ground up. I was happy to support them and proud to see those two stick with it.

So, Why so Serious?

Along the way the boys’ website, www.raidfinderpro.com, has gained attention. Some good and some are bad. They have attracted the attention of haters. The website has been attacked and notes left on the site and YouTube channel. Some got deleted for being vulgar. As a dad I want things family friendly. I know trolls come in all forms and we should have taken better precautions against this, but I honestly did not think a free to use website that offers a tool to help gamers could be so abhorrent, according to the trolls. This has not affected them much, more so me, and they are excited to have a functioning website that offers amenities that in game LFG tools are lacking.
